DealerRater - Aug 8, 2026
My experience with BMW was mixed and, overall, disappointing.
On August 8, I brought my vehicle in because of a flat tire. After inspection, the tire specialist advised me that the other tires were fine and that I only needed to replace the damaged tire. I purchased a new tire and also agreed to have an alignment performed. I was told that the vehicle had been fully inspected, so I left feeling confident that everything had been checked.
Approximately two hours later, I received another flat-tire alert. I contacted my advisor and returned to BMW on August 9. Before the vehicle was even inspected, I was told that the issue was probably caused by a nail I had picked up after leaving the dealership. I found that conclusion concerning, particularly because I had driven very little after leaving BMW.
After speaking with the manager, I asked that the vehicle and tire be thoroughly inspected before any conclusions were made. The inspection ultimately found that the tire valve was loose and was causing the air to escape—there was no nail or other tire damage.
What disappointed me most was not necessarily that an issue occurred, but that there was very little acknowledgment or ownership of what had happened. I would have appreciated a simple acknowledgment that, given the vehicle had just been inspected and serviced, the loose valve should have been identified or at least investigated before assuming the issue was caused by something that happened after I left the dealership. Instead, I felt that the initial response was focused on explaining why BMW was not responsible rather than first understanding what had happened.
The manager did not really apologize for the situation. He did say, “sorry for the inconvenience,” but that did not feel like a genuine acknowledgment of what had happened or of the time and inconvenience this caused me. I had to return to the dealership and spend additional time addressing an issue that occurred shortly after my vehicle had supposedly been fully inspected and serviced. I believe a sincere acknowledgment and apology would have gone a long way toward restoring my confidence in the service experience.
I believe BMW can do better, particularly in training and in how service concerns are handled with customers. Clients should be given the benefit of a thorough inspection before conclusions are made, and when something unexpected occurs shortly after service, transparency and accountability go a long way toward maintaining trust.
I do want to recognize Rosie, who has been extremely helpful and professional throughout the process. Even though today was her day off, she has been very responsive and communicative, and I truly appreciate her customer service.
I hope BMW takes this feedback constructively. My expectation is simply that when I bring my vehicle to BMW, I can trust that it has been properly inspected and that, if something goes wrong shortly afterward, the situation will be handled with transparency, professionalism, and accountability.
