Of course the best form of maintenance is the regularly scheduled kind. Contrarily when minor issues go undiagnosed, they can progress to more significant issues later on. Knowing what to do for your car needs an expert. Here are the most frequently asked questions we receive about Houston BMW maintenance.

BMW Maintenance FAQ

    • BMW Certified Maintenance

    • Why should I choose a BMW licensed service provider for my car or truck maintenance?

When you select BMW of Houston Midtown as your licensed service provider, you receive a team of factory-trained Houston BMW mechanics. Not only will we provide first-rate auto service, but ensure use of state-of-the-art equipment and genuine BMW parts, including a full warranty for all completed service and repairs.

    • BMW Oil Change – Houston

    • When do I change my oil?

While many auto technicians swear by the 3 month or 3,000-7,000 mile oil-change rule, this may or may not be true of your make and model. The first suggestion is always to check your auto manual. This will give you the most precise answer available, especially for newer models. Conversely, however, the manual provides little guidance when it comes to vehicle wear, history, and age. This more indepth diagnosis requires an expert’s opinion. If your personal mechanic seems unsure, then call your BMW dealer for the best advice.

    • BMW Brake Change

    • When do I need new brakes?

Every car service appointment should include a standard vehicle inspection. A licensed BMW mechanic will conduct a thorough inspection for any other required services. As brake quality is judged by size, look, and feel, this is the best way to check your brakes. Always have squeaky brakes looked at, as it may be a symptom of a bigger issue.

    • BMW Tire Rotation

    • When should I have the tires rotated?

A car’s primary point of contact with the pavement are the wheels. This causes excessive wear and tear that must be distributed evenly between all the tires. A tire rotation after every 6,000 to 8,000 miles is highly advised. Rotation ensures that your tires will wear evenly. Also note that 4WD and off-roading, as well as personal driving habits may dramatically influence your tire rotation interval and frequency, outside of a standard BMW tire rotation schedule.

    • BMW Battery Replacement

    • How do I know when to change my battery?

The typical car battery lasts from 3 to 5 years, depending on use and care. The best way to avoid a battery problem is monitor the battery health of your vehicle. This most often happens during a routine service inspection. Most car batteries, like other perishable items, have date of expiration clearly marked.

    • BMW Brake Pad Replacement

    • When should I change my brake pads?

The lifespan of a brake pad depends on your typical driving routine and decidedly, the operating environment. Based upon moderate to heavy usage, brake pads are typically designed to last through 20,000-25,000 miles. Factors that significantly reduce its life are frequent braking, high-speed braking, elevated temperatures and driving on uneven areas or rocky terrain. On average, brake pads are designed to give from forty to sixty thousand miles of pad life under normal driving conditions.

    • The Check Engine Light

    • What’s the check engine light mean?

Computerized dashboards are standard in most modern vehicles. These include sensors and indicators to help drivers manage vehicle safety. Common reasons that your check engine light has come on include time for an oil change. This light also produces a computerized error code which is easy to read by a diagnostic machine.

    • BMW Fuel Filter

    • When should I replace my car’s fuel filter?

A clean fuel filter ensures trouble-free and optimal engine performance. Always consult your BMW mechanic or automakers’ manual, but fuel filters usually can operate between 20,000-40,000 miles.

    • BMW Engine & Ignition System

    • Why won’t my BMW start?

Although there may be various reasons why your BMW won’t start, the usual culprit is your car’s battery. If your lights were left on, then its reasonable to assume that the charge is out. One sign of a low battery charge is if it takes a moment to start when you turn the key. There may be other reasons why your BMW won’t start, so it’s best to consult a certified BMW mechanic.

I appreciated the service..everyone seemed genuine. I appreciated that everything was not an upsell. They found the positives in the car and showed items that were concerning but could have wait a few more months. Liked that they had a separate waiting area with coffee and I appreciated the ride home and also the return pick up that was offered.

Elaine with service was amazing, kept me up to date throughout the whole process and was super pleasant to work with. Liam, a tech/mechanic, thoroughly explained my cars issues and the plan to fix them. He also took the time to check other components of my car. In comparison, the Midtown location is better than the Clear Lake location. Clear Lake said I needed a valve cover and gasket replacement, Liam took a look and said it was dry and there was no need. After hearing that I will not be returning to Clear Lake. Made me question the ... Read More

When first entering the establishment I was not greeted by anyone until I met salesman Mohammed on the third floor. He was cheerful and polite, quickly got me into a test drive and sat down to negotiate price. After making a deal I waited to meet with finance, where there was a fully stocked beverage bar with coffee, tea and even nitro cold brew, which was delicious. Shortly thereafter I was met by Unis to discuss the terms of finance. He was extremely informative and helpful. The entire process was extraordinarily painless, pleasant, and took less than a couple of ... Read More
