BMW Reports September Sales Results
Recently, BMW Group U.S. announced that sales of BMW brand vehicles increased in September as compared to September 2016, with 25,571 vehicles sold in the United States during the month. The months performance was driven by sales of BMW passenger cars, a deviation from the industrys trend of consumers opting for SUVs and trucks.
The 5 Series was the months selling star, returning a 144.4 increase over last Septembers results on 3,718 vehicles sold. The 4 Series family of sedans also delivered a strong performance, selling 3,637 vehicles for a gain of 58.9 percent, while the i3 jumped 37.6 percent for the month. The X5 Sports Activity Vehicle saw sales grow 6.0 percent, with customers purchasing 3,975 during the course of the month. In a press release, Bernhard Kuhnt, President and CEO, BMW of North America, remarked, The hot summer has given way to autumn and an uptick in sales, fueled in part by continued strong demand for the new 5 Series, as well as demand in Texas and Florida where customers are now replacing their flood and hurricane damaged vehicles. We are also anticipating growth in our Sports Activity Vehicles as expansion at our X model plant in South Carolina means well have more X5s this month followed by the eagerly awaited introduction of the all-new X3 in November.
