BMW Reports U.S. January Sales Increase

February 15th, 2018 by

Last week, BMW Group announced that January sales in the United States grew to 19,016 — for a five percent increase over January 2017 sales of 18,109 vehicles. The stellar performance was credited to continued demand for BMW passenger cars and SAVS, as well as increasing interest in BMW electrified vehicles. The BMW 5 Series showed extremely strong sales growth, as a seventh straight month of sales gains resulted in 2,456 vehicles sold for an impressive 227.9 percent boost over January 2017 results.

Of the total sales for the 5 Series, nearly 10 percent were handed in by the BMW 530e iPerformance plug-in hybrid electric model. The BMW X4 SAV delivered a strong sales gain of 83.4 percent for the month, with the X6 SAV improving by 24.7 percent over last Januarys sales. In a sign of consumers growing acceptance of developing technologies, BMW electrified vehicles — which include the BMW i3, i8 and IPerformance models — accounted for over 5 percent of vehicles sold in the United States. In a press release, Bernhard Kuhnt, President and CEO, BMW of North America, commented, Our newest products continue to be very well received by consumers, which has helped us carry the momentum that we created in 2017 into 2018 and given us a great start to the New Year.

We have many new products to launch in 2018, starting with the first-ever, and much anticipated BMW X2 which will begin appearing on showroom floors later this month for its sales debut in early March.
